Introduction to Winter Climbing

BEGINNER

Experience your first winter climb

Join us for your first winter climb, where you'll learn how to second winter climbs while mastering the use of ice axes and crampons on steeper terrain. Receive movement coaching and instruction on removing climbing protection, rope management, attaching to anchors, and more. 

PRE-REQUISITES

  • You must be fit and healthy for a full day of climbing, potentially in poor weather​​​

  • A good head for heights and exposure

  • You can correctly fit a climbing harness

  • You are confident belaying a lead climber

  • You have completed a winter skills course or learnt these skills independently- Ice axe and crampon use, ice axe arrest

WHAT'S INCLUDED

The following is included in your booking:

  • Your Guide (Experienced, insured & first aid trained)

  • A bespoke plan based on your goals

  • All technical climbing equipment

  • A harness, helmet, axes and crampons (if needed)

Exclusions:

  • Personal clothing, food & drink (kit list provided)​​​

  • Winter boots

  • Gondola pass if climbing at Aonach Mor

  • Accommodation​​​​

  • Any parking fees

  • Personal insurance (medical, cancellation & belongings)
